Understanding Situation & Scene

Situation & Scene refers to the specific moments and locations where your story unfolds. A scene is a dramatised moment where characters interact, conflict emerges, and change occurs; it is shown, not told. A situation is the circumstance or condition that creates the potential for drama and conflict. Together, scenes and situations are the building blocks of narrative: they are where your story lives, where readers experience your characters in real time, and where the stakes become tangible and immediate.
